password in file and crontab
 
Hi,
we are ususally take the RMAN (oracle)automated backup by crontab.
We have the file which contains username and password.then
we added that file in crontab.

Our needs, encrpt the file?is it possible in red hat 4.2?
please anyone tell anyother suggestions...........

nagavinodh,

There is no need to encrypt the file. If you want to allow access Read/Write/Execute only to few chosen users (Admins) you can create a group for them and set the Permissions of the file: read, write & execute whichever you allow.
