Password Complexity after changing the /etc/pam.d/system-auth the system dies

Hi All,

After adding this entries in /etc/pam.d/system-auth

password required /lib/security/ retry=3
minlen=8 lcredit=1 ucredit=1 dcredit=1 ocredit=1 difok=2 minlength=40
Accounts are locked after 5 failed login attempts
Automatic lockout after 5 failed attempts should be enabled by adding the following two lines to /etc/pam.d/system-auth:
auth required /lib/security/ onerr=fail no_magic_root
account required /lib/security/ deny=5 no_magic_root reset

Add the following to to /etc/pam.d/system-auth:
password sufficient /lib/security/ use_authtok md5 shadow remember=13

The system does not allow to login.

Then i have to copy the old and reboot.

The version of redhat i'm using are [root@jptapmss01 pam.d]# more /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5)

But above configuration works for me in Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3
