passwd file - bin uid

Hi there,

This might seem like an odd question but looking under the passwd file, I see users like "bin". Can these uids be used to access my system? To my understanding, uids like these are service accounts and can only be accessed via the root uid. I would be grateful if someone could clarify this for me. Thanks in advance.

See here for an explanation of what some of those "users" are for.

It's best to leave these things as your distro set them up, but feel free to play (and maybe break certain things): It's your computer, and your OS.

Have fun.
