partitioning and disk errors
im basically new to linux, but encountered a problem that I have no idea if I can fix..
after setting up partitions etc dual booting linux with windows xp professional everything booted fine... used lilo to dual boot however... i was unhappy with the size of my partitions after everything checked out so I decided to increase the size of my windows partition (with acronis partition expert) and now I have a disk read error when I try to boot windows linux boots fine though... are there any tools or any way I can go about trying to repair a ntfs partition that can no longer be read? as I said, im basically new to linux but any help would be greatly greatly appreciated... i would really hate to have to remove all of my windows information without trying to repair the partition somehow. thanks!! |
i tend to use the linux prompt command cfdisk to partition my drives so it may hav something useful in it, but its more likely that windows is just being fussy
my m8 has the same setup and windowsXP keeps nicking back the MBR! its even kindly automatically reformatted his Mandrake Linux partition!! |
