Partitioning
 

Is there a partitioner that I can use that won't damage my install when I resiz an existing partition? I have tried resizing one before with gParted, it was an NTFS formatted file system, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but yeah, it wrecked my windows install, I don't blame any one, but I just don't want that to happen again.

I have never had any issues with the gparted liveCD, so long as you don't use "force". I recommend it happily.

However - screwing with partitions always has the potential to screw things up.

One thng I perhaps should have mentioned, is that you will save yourself a heap of grief if you do *not* move the start (left edge on the graphic) of an NTFS partition. Especially the C:\ drive ...
Less of an issue with Linux partitions - may simply require the bootloader to be re-installed afterwards.

All I'd like to do is shrink my existing partition that spans the entire drive (excluding swap) to make room for testing other distros. So as long as I keep my Ubuntu partition in the same place I should be okay? Just shrink from the right and add a partition in the unpartitioned space?
