Partition transfer drive / Terminal problems

I've just installed Fedora Core 7 on my Compaq V3000 laptop. It is in dual boot with Vista Ultimate. The questions are as follows.

1. I tried to use the install walkthrough on the sticky topic in this forum. However, i have had issues getting the commands to work themselves.
Quote:
[Beaulieu@Balulu ~]$ cd~
bash: cd~: command not found
This seems to happen with most of the commands i enter

2. I have set up a drive to pass files between linux and Vista. I don't know what i should format this drive in.

Sorry if this is a repeated question, there is so much info on linux, but it's all over the place.

You are missing a space (blank) character. The command is "cd", the tilde is a parameter. Try
Code:
cd ~
(one or more blanks).

For Fedora, vfat (fat32) is best for data transfer. NTFS is now supported for r/w, but I don't know if FC include it.
