Partition problems
 

I've had a horrible time trying to install fedora. I don't know too much about linux fist of all. My first problem is that i cannot fully load fedora. I get an error saying there is no screen and something about the x server. I noticed when i was installing fedora, an error message said the partition could not be aligned, but could go on anyways and fix it later. Well i proceeded to install and apparently fedora does not work. Is there anyway to fix this?

as far as X goes, you don't have it configured to use your video card (or something) correctly. fixing it is probably easier said than done.

Fedora should be pretty painless to install. Did you make sure that the components on your computer are on the HCL?

My computer has everything linux would need. I tried using partition magic, and it found an error. I'm just going to reformat the whole hard drive and start fresh. Maybe I messed up something when i was creating my partitions with xp. I would rather not reformat, unless someone knows something better that i can do.

Ok, so I'm assuming you did indeed check the HCL.

You do not need to create the partitions with XP, fedora can do that for you.

Well, you are planning to use Fedora right? If so, install Fedora.

It appears to be something similar to a problem I had once while installing Mandrake 10, problems upon problems, I eventually checked the md5sum on my downloaded ISO image and found a mismatch, re-downloaded & got a md5sum match and the install was flawless.
Just another possible angle to check if you haven't checked already.
Also this may just be useless info. but I have run across some articles of graphics problems upon installations with some Dell computer models, don't know what you're running but thought I'd throw that in.

Billyc's comment is if you wanted to dual boot. Have you checked the md5 sums of the iso's?

I've checked all md5sums, and all three discs work fine. I am running a dell 4600. Are there some compatibilty problems i'm not aware of with a dell?

This article I found through Mandrake linux tips for free but I don't think it matters what the OS platform is.

I was trying to install fedora 2. Is there a chance that fedora core 3 has fixed the problem with dell chipsets?
