Partition check halt

I installed mandrake Linux 9.1 along with winXP I was able to install it but when i boot Linux it halts at the Partition check with some path ..../target0/lun0 and stops there what should I do so that i am able t boot linux

try posting a little more of the error. there should be a little more to it than that

hi well its like that when i turn my PC on the mandkarke boot select screen comes and gives me option to boot either NT,linux aor floppy if i chose NT my winxp runs fine when i chose linux first different routines are printed on the screen than it detects the hardware my CDrom and hard disk after that gives the irq's when it comes to the partition check than it is printed on the screen /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0:

ang after that nothing happens it keeps on there .
please help me through this
I have tried installing many times but the same prob comes everytime
