pango error


Hello
Ok i was trying to install the new gaim2.0 beta3 application and i seem to have messed things up. I was trying to install the dependencies for gaim and all was going well untill i got to libpango i have install this but when i open applications such as gaim(beta3), epipany synaptic i get this error

synaptic: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_intern_static_string

i have tried installing diffrent versions of pango and got no where does anyone have any ideas ?

Hmm... What distro is this on (you list two in your sig)?

How were these being installed?
tarballs?
emerge?
rpm?

I should be able to help you with gentoo, but I don't think I'll be much help with Ubuntu.

Hello
Sorry I should of mentioned the distro its on ubuntu, gentoo is working perfectly. There were originally installed off deb's but i have since tried compiling from source and it hasn't fixed it.
