p2p connection failed in skype
 

Hello,

I am using redhat 5.1 and I have instlled skype when I am tryin to login it always give the error of
p2p connection failed.

First, Red Hat Enterprise 5.1 is ANCIENT...7 is out now, and 5.1 has been end-of-life/unpatched/unsupported for a LONG time now. If you are PAYING FOR RHEL, then you need to get the latest version, and contact support. Otherwise, stop where you are and load the latest version of CentOS instead, if you don't plan on paying. All that aside...RHEL or CentOS aren't good choices for 'consumer' systems/desktop systems. Hardware support for cameras/bluetooth/wifi may be problematic; WHY are you using RHEL?

Are you on a company network? Private? Is there a firewall? Has this EVER worked? And did you try putting that error into Google???

Also...what version of Skype are you using? Have you tried updating that?

Also, you may be trying to use an old version of Skype. Skype is no longer peer-to-peer.

yes i know 5.1 is old but some application which i am using is i cant move its time consuming so we are continuing with this one only

Sorry, but that's a bad excuse. You don't say what this "some application" actually is, but if you are actually using an application that REQUIRES an old, unpatched, and insecure OS, you need to move to a different application. It being 'time consuming' is also a bad reason...eventually, your system is GOING TO DIE. Do you think that (even IF you manage to find RHEL 5.1 installation media), that you're going to be able to load it on new hardware??? It won't work.

Stop where you are; update, and move forward. And again, as said before...RHEL is NOT a good choice for a desktop system. You would be far better off with Fedora, Mint, or openSUSE.
Again, you don't say what results actually WERE, or what you actually did try, and you still don't say what version of Skype you're using. But to restate things yet again:
UPDATE your old, unsupported operating system, and update your version of Skype FIRST. Remove the .Skype directory in your home directory.

we are using this for server but some times we need to skype from here. as I hve tried to find things on google but not getting any solution so planning for the upgradation

Spell out your words, please. And you STILL aren't answering any of the questions asked of you, which might let someone help you:

• What is the "some application" that you can't move?
• What version of Skype are you using?
• Have you tried removing the .Skype directory in the users home directory?
• Have you tried upgrading Skype???
