Question outlook not downloading mail from dovecot

can someone help me with my dovecot configuration?.
I'm running sendmail with a dovecot server on fedora core 4 and outlook doesn't seem to download the mail from the users mailboxes it keeps giving me some error.
If you do a test message in outlook everything works fine but if you send and receive it only sends mail but doesn't receive mail.
Tested with telnet as well and if you try to list messages in the users mailbox it keeps dropping the connection with a message "connection to host lost".

I've done lot of searching on the internet and tried everything can anybody please help me to resolve this issue?

Do you mean when try to use outlook, create a new mail, and it send out the mail but you cannot receive the mail??

Have start your dovecot service ?? if not do this :
Code:
service dovecot start
if you are not sure whether dovecot is running or not then type :
Code:
ps -aux
and whether any sign or text stating about dovecot.

Else please check your firewall setting, maybe your firewall rejected the connection to port 110, try to stop your firewall service and try to receive a mail again.

I've checked that dovecot is running and it is running i also did try to disable the firewall and it still doesn't download mail from my fedora server.

if you test the mail settings in outlook it gives a tick to all the tests and it gives no errors.

but when you click on finish and click on send and receive it gives you errors.
It's like outlook doesn't see any mail for that specific user, but their is mail in the users mailbox. I've tried the workaround for outlook as well in the dovecot.conf file
