If you told us what a 'mach3' was/is, we might be able to tell you. Since you don't, we can't; read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature.

Every version/distro of Linux has, on their respective websites, a list of hardware requirements. Pick a distro (you also don't say which Linux you're wanting to run), and read those requirements, and compare them against your 'mach3'.

First, which "mach3" software are we talking about?

I will assume that you do not mean the game or the razor.

If you mean the CNC software from Newfangled Solutions LLC: that one is one very strictly Windows application. It was not designed to run on anything other than Windows. The software has a special parallel port driver that is required for non-simulation mode. You can research it yourself at https://www.machsupport.com/.

I would consider it a challenge to get something like this running under wine, and the result might not be reliable enough for industrial production standards.
