OS for old laptop(acer aspire 9500)
 

so i need an OS for this laptop and i am going to get the laptop from a place to place not just to settle so here are the spec

You can try any distro with light DE (xfce, openbox, fluxbox. lxde).

My father had an Acer Aspire 5900 of similar specifications and it run Ubuntu 10.04 quite easily. I wuld suggest Debian (it is lighter than Ubuntu) and a lightweight Desktop Environment like LXDE, MATE, or XFCE. The only thing I think you may have difficulty with is the wireless drivers but if you know what driver you need before you install we can help you locate it.

Maybe your English is better than mine. I really didn't understand the latter part of the OP's message. So yes, it was. I thought it best to inform the OP of this fact in case my answer had no bearing on his/her question. I hope that clears things up for you.

I am a native English speaker that is lazy unless with its usage unless it is for educational purposes. I understand your writing and I understand the OPs. You said very clearly "It's not in a language I know" yet you write in English here quite alot. Maybe the intent was not to belittle the OP but certainly suggesting his post was not in English (which you appear to know quite well even for a non-native speaker/writer), when it obviously is, was belittling.

YMMV, to use a neutral expression. Since one hypothesis is that
means that his/her laptop can be moved. That seems (a) so obvious and (b) so irrelevant to the problem that I strongly suspect that I am misunderstanding the content and/or the intent of the OP. If you claim to have a clear understanding of the fragment quoted above then "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!". To satisfy my curiosity you might tell me what you think it means?

@omran97: This laptop uses a Pentium M CPU. Some versions of these CPUs do not support PAE, a feature that is enabled in kernels of most modern distributions. Some distros, like Debian, Slackware and distros that are aimed at older hardware have kernels available that are compiled without PAE, so it might be possible that you have to limit yourself to one of those distros, at least as long as you don't have a separate machine to build a kernel yourself.

Pentium III timeframe, so not horrible. Do you happen to know WHICH processor it is? The Dothan cores supported PAE. Although most distro's include an available non-pae kernel also.
