Oracle Linux 7 with Ιntel Celeron J4125
Hello everyone.
I have a problematics I'm trying to solve. I need a dev environment capable of running Oracle Database 12c on Oracle Linux 7. I need explicitely this setup in order to stay the closest to the prod thing. However, I also need a low-energy self-hosted solution. Meaning, I don't want use a VPS and am searching for a small machine I can keep awake woth little energy consumption. I've found a bunch of affordable mini pc's with 8gb ram and Ιntel Celeron J4125 processor. However, I'm not sure if this processor meets the minimum requirements to run Oracle Linux 7. Would anyone kindly provide me with some light on this ? |
This CPU would be enough to boot your linux, but you won't be able to do a lot of database actions with it.
I would say it meets the absolute minimum requirements, but the real usability will depend on other things, like what do you want to do with that database. |
You haven't provided enough information to know if it's enough.
Here are some OSes people are running on a Celeron J4125 processors: https://linux-hardware.org/?id=cpu:intel-6-122-8-celeron-j4125 - plenty of variety, and all listed as "works" so there should be no problem running a Linux-based OS on that CPU. Whether the rest of the machine is up to it? The requirements of Oracle Linux 7.9 appear to be: Quote:
But Oracle Database 12c will have its own minimum requirements, as will the database instance itself, and any software you access that database with, and also the types of tasks you want to perform on it. |
