Oracle Enterprise Linux (32 Bit) - Kernel Xinetd - failed - Urgent. to resolve it.

Good day,

I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux (32 Bit), i would install R12
E Businesssuite in this (x86), But i am getting "Kernel Xinetd - failed".

also, i unable to do,"TELNET / Putty" cann't able to telnet from another machine to this,
and if i stop the xinetd service, it says, stopping xinetd Failed. what should i do?
but i can able to do FTP.

i have checked in /etc/xinetd.d/telnet file it says disable is No

How should i resolve it?

Looking your sincere reply to solve this issue, also advanced thanks for your time that whoever is giving the detail to resolve it.

You don't say what version/distro of linux you're using, and please don't mark things as "urgent"....it isn't, for anyone but you. We volunteer our time.

Check your putty settings, specifically the port settings. Putty, I believe, uses port 22 (the SSH port), to connect by default. Change it to port 23 (I think..it's either 23 or 21), for Telnet. As a rule, Telnet is VERY unsafe, and shouldn't be used. SSH is far better, and since you have putty, you have an ssh client.

If you can't restart xinetd, are you root? You need to be to restart this.

And if you're having Oracle problems, there are two things you should do. One is to read, understand and follow the Oracle installation instructions and requirements. If you don't, things won't work. The second is to contact Oracle...you paid for support when you bought it, and they can tell you what's wrong, and how to fix it in a few minutes, if this is 'urgent'....
