Is this running as a logical volume or not?

What does:

Code:
mount | column -t
df -h
fdisk -l
lvdisplay
give you?

that depends on just HOW the ancient RHEL4 was installed
PS. RHEL4 is now on an extra EXTENDED life support from RHEL

as in you have to pay them boatloads of cash for the extra life support

otherwise RHEL 4.9 would have been "put to ground" last year

so seeing as you HAVE to have the required EXTENDED support contract with Red Hat

have you asked your all ready paid for tech support

as to changing the size , that all depends on ------
if /opt is on the root partition
or
on it's own partition
or
if the whole thing is a LVM

This is all true but I am still running a few hundred boxes on AS 4, I usually don't contact red hat support unless its something like a bug or a bigger problem but thats just me. Your post is a bit intimidating tho, I just wanted to let the OP know that it is OK to still run 4 as of right now. You should start making plans to do an OS refresh in the future but you're ok for now.
