Oprofile setup command

I am trying to use OProfile to analyze my computer code.

When I type in the setup command it does not like it.

the command is
Code:
sudo opcontrol --setup --ctr0-event=L2_LINES_IN --ctr0-count=500 ----vmlinux=/boot/-'uname -r'
[sudo] password for james:
Unknown option "--ctr0-event". See opcontrol --help

Now this was taken with a slight modification from an IBM report on using OProfile.

Tha paper can be found here:

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-oprof/

Why is it not liking my command?

Oprofile goes to the default CPU_CLK_UNHALTED event everytime I start Oprofile. It does not like

sudo opcontrol --setup --ctr0-event=L2_LINES_IN --ctr0-count=500 ----vmlinux=/boot/-'uname -r'

What is wrong with this command? It is the same one in te IBM report.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

you probably have a different version of opcontrol. Have you checked the documentation that it came with?
