Sort of off-topic. I have a SuSE live dvd that I've mucked around in a few times and I was very impressed with it's hardware support. Picked up my bluebooth adapter when I plugged it in and loaded all the bluetooth software off the mark. After your holidays maybe you might give that a try

As far as what i have tried any distro is good for the laptop when the iso can boot with or without kernel boot options. With a toshiba i had to disable pcmcia to boot mandrake or redhat. The same problem never occured with debian, suse, gentoo, slackware and others.
