Actually, for me one of the main reasons to switch to Linux since there I could find faster and better working tools.
For listen songs you might want to switch to MAC if you like the apple-software too much and there are some programs that only run in Microsoft but... I actually reboot to watch movies on Ubuntu instaid of windows 7...
I guess it depends on your preferences, hardware and skills.

Many, many things for me are more logical to find in Ubuntu Linux then on Win7 although I have been using Ubuntu only for a couple of months now and have been using DOS and Windows versions for a lot of years.
I guess you have to trie.
