Opensuse software

Where in WA could I obtain the DVD of Opensuse 12.1?
I am a newbie to Linux but have dabbled in Ubuntu previously. I purchased a new Toshiba laptop and
installed Ubuntu 12.04 on it; what a disaster. It won't stay the Wifi even though it used it to download and install the setup on my laptop.

A few of my friends have told me to try Suse and directed me to this site. They swear by it.
I wish to move away from Windows and permanently on to Linux. I realise that I have a fair way to go to fully comprehend all of this but I have to start somewhere.
Doing FIFO does not help much either.
If anyone can start me off in the right direction???
Cheers, Alec

The best place would be HERE. Another possible location is on the main menu on the top right of your screen under Download Linux.

Hello.

You may with to start with a free virtual machine if you have extra ram and a supported processor. It is one of the best ways to start learning linux and you can keep windows safe.

You can freely download OpenSuse from mirrors. http://software.opensuse.org/121/en

Many places can send one to you for a small fee. Places like www.distrowatch.com offer ads for some places. Here is an example. http://www.osdisc.com/cgi-bin/view.c...te=distrowatch

You can build your own and run it from this site in a browser. http://susestudio.com/

Live cd's also offer a way to test for hardware support. Most of the issues on any distro might be resolved with some help. Each disto has a bit of a learning curve so hold on.

Note that a new release of openSUSE is due out in a couple of weeks (Sept 5th, IIRC). It might be worth waiting for that. Or not - up to you.

Alternatively, it might be worth trying to fix that...but, if you don't like Ubuntu, you would be better off fixing the problems (if you have any) with something that you do like.
