OpenSuse ?

I have Opensuse 10.2 and I am trying to be able to have permission on writing to my windows folder and also I have a external hard drive that I would like to have the permission to write too. I have tried to change the permission but it won't let me change it. It says that I should be root to change the settings. Can anyone help me out?

It isn't recommended but...

I'm assuming this is an NTFS partition in question.
This link should get you started:
