Hi,
i am using RHEL 6.0 My installed openssl are: rpm -qa | grep -i openssl openssl-1.0.0-20.el6.x86_64 openssl098e-0.9.8e-17.el6.x86_64 pyOpenSSL-0.10-2.el6.x86_64 My current version is: openssl version OpenSSL 1.0.0-fips 29 Mar 2010 i want "openssl098e-0.9.8e-17.el6.x86_64" to be my current version. Kindly guide how to achieve this. I tried to remove the current version 1.0 but it has many other dependencies and those cant be ignored. thanks in advance. |

hi unSpawn,
The reason to downgrade is that my application needs that version 0.9.8. Although i have installed now both the versions of openssl, still my current version is the upgraded one(1.0) and not 0.9.8. If there is a way out to make my current version as 0.9.8 while 1.0 is still installed, may kindly suggest. |

Libraries-wise,.. you can just unpackage openssl 0.9.8 and move libssl.so.0.9.8 and libcrypto.so.0.9.8 to your correct lib directory, and run ldd. Running two versions of openssl would be a hassle, im sure someone with more hacking experience could walk you through that. |

What's the application name and version number? Was it installed using RPM package management? What error does the application return when you run it? And if it's a binary what does 'ldd /path/to/binary' return? Is a .src.rpm available to recompile it against the new OpenSSL version or is it possible to ask the developer / vendor? |
