Openshot will still not use Blender

I spent most of yesterday figuring out how to install a tar ball version of Blender so that it could be opened with the terminal command 'blender' and Openshot still says:

Please check the preferences in OpenShot and be sure the Blender executable is correct. This setting should be the path of the 'blender' executable on your computer. Also, please be sure that it is pointing to Blender version 2.5 or greater.

and

Error Output:
No frame was found in the output from Blender

BTW, there is a symbolic link (I think that's what it's called) in /usr/bin for Blender that leads to /usr/lib/blender-2.63a-linux-glibc27-x86_64/blender

As you can see I am using Blender 2.63, so this should not be an issue. I really want to make animated titles in Openshot and, frankly, Blender is too complicated for me to use without it. I am using Openshot 1.2.2 . Can anyone help me?

Nevermind

Problem solved. I downloaded the newest version I could find from this page: https://launchpad.net/openshot/+download
and install with Gdebi.

The animated titles work fine now, but it's slow as molasses.
