Smile OpenRadius

New to the forum after years of browsing it. I've found much help and thank you to everyone. Great place to learn for any newbie and i'd imagine the vet at some point in time :-)

Ok ...

So I have been asked to setup a OpenRadius server on RHEL 4 to interface with LDAP for authentication and authorization. I have OpenRadius installed and testings works fine, but I'm new to the OpenRadius package and wondering if anyone has a link to maybe some docs, guide, etc to get me along on the right path as well as a better understanding about the radius server itself ..

thanks a bunch and keep up the great VIA helpful folks like you all! :-)

farslayer thanks for the response. Yes I have been looking there an i can get by all the tests etc.

What i have to do is the following:

Users connecting externally
ASA5520
RADIUS SERVER
LDAP
LDAP should authenticate the user and determine what access the user has. Reports back to the Radius server the permission ..

--------------------------------------------

I have also been told that Windows 2003 IAS does the same, but from what I am told; its not reliable enough for the task.

Users connecting externally VAI Cisco VPN client.
ASA 5520
IAS
AD
AD Checks to see if the user has access to dial into the network. Permissions are already established in AD so access to the network is granted and permissions are carried into the connection.

------------------------------------------------

So in view of these 2 types .. is the Radius/LDAP scenario i displayed how it should work?

Thanks again ..

GNY
