OpenOffice writer Killed by attempt to print

Hi,

OpenOffice writer KILLED by an attempt to print at a hiher resolution.

Either I get: Main Memory Shortage! and computer hangs for 10minutes, or I get no message, computer hangs for 10 minutes after which I have a shell output: Killed!

This happen only when I try to print with 1200dpi. No problem with printing at 300dpi.

Does it mean the swap is too small? 512Mb.

I guess the actual RAM (512Mb) with a decent Pentium at 1.3GHz shouldn't be an issue.

:o

:study: I think this may have to do with your printer. I would try setting it up again and see if that works. Have you printed anything else from the same printer from something like a web browser or a different text editor?

also, which versio of OOo are you using? I remember reading somewhere that 1.0.3 had a printing problem (or somethig)

Printer is not a problem I believe. It works great from every application, including OO unless I try to print at a high resolution.
The printer is HP5550, and it prints great at 1200dpi from gimp, for example.
OO version 1.0.1
