OpenOffice 3.2.1 on Fedora 14

Hey guys, brand new to Linux. A friend of mine helped me wipe my laptop and recommended I install Fedora 14 as my new OS. Have to say, I am impressed with the performance of my computer thus far. I tried to install OpenOffice 3.2.1 today but I can't seem to find it any of the programs/run them. I downloaded the install file from the website and ran it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello rchess89 and welcome to LQ,

did you install OpenOffice from the Fedora-repositories?

You may open a terminal and execute the command
Code:

soffice
if it starts OpenOffice, your only missing the entries in the startmenue. If it does not start, pleas execute the command
Code:

whereis soffice
if it does not show a path to the programm, you did not correctly install it.

Please provide more information about the Windowmanager you're using.

Did you restart at least the X-windowsystem after installing OpenOffice?

Markus

Hey, appreciate your help. I ended up getting it to work after I posted this. I installed all available updates and then used the following website, it was very helpful:

Thanks again.
