OpenOffice 1.1.2 GUI access

Hi all,

I'm running mandrake 9.1 (which didn't come with open office - (is that normal??))

I downloaded and installed OpenOffice 1.1.2 and can run it fine from a terminal when I put in my root password

I'm using KDE - OpenOffice is sitting in /root/ which I can't get into through Konquerer for gui access (because I need to be logged in as root?)

q1 - Can I get gui access to OpenOffice (without root access)- how?
q2 - Is it possible to log in as root and not have to keep typing in the password when I want to do things like alter settings?

Please point me to relavent documentation that might help me out if its out there

cheers

I'm assuming you installed open office as root that is why is sitting on /root. If you want to use open office under a normal user, you have to install open office under the normal user as well.

I used Mandrake long ago.
I recall you have to choose the
option to select softwares. And then
pick Oo among other things. Check
your installation CD.
