I've heard of opennebula recently, and I was wondering if it's possible to have one virtual machine spread across my two computers, so that it would be almost twice as fast. If it's not possible with opennebula, then how else could I make use of two computers to get more power than with just one ?

OpenNebula is a cloud management platform, and I don't believe it provides what you require.

I think you want HPC (High Performance Computing) or Parallel computing and both depends on what are you going to do with the computers.
