Hi I am newbie to linux, This is my first question so please do answer-----what is the command for opening ports in linux.

Hi, welcome to LQ.

I've split your question out of the unrelated thread.

And as for an answer: you open a port by starting a process that
listens on it, e.g. postfix to open 25, bind to open 53.

Or are you talking about removing a block via firewall?
