opening a file as root in KWrite
how can I edit my XF86Config in KWrite as root? does it have to be done through a shell?
Thanks. |
You can open XF86config as root if you log in as root ( joking )...
Just su in a terminal and then type : % kwrite /etc/X11/XF86Config and you're started... |
ok I guess I could do that. Someone tell the KWrite developers to add a File > Open as root button...
|
That is not under the control of KWrite developers. The Graphical environment designers, like KDE or GNOME should do that....
Also, that is pretty useless as it makes it easy for newbies to screw up their system. |
Someone correct this if its wrong but I think if you create a shortcut on your desktop to konqueror superusers mode you can browse your files in konqueror as superuser and choose to open a file with k-write, retaining your superuser status.
I created a "link to application" on my desk top and in the field for "Execute" added the following : kdesu -c konqueror |
