Opengl problem (Gahh!!!!)

I finally figured out how to make the opengl screensaver fullscreen, but now the screensavers (ex. Euphoria) run really really really slow.

Here are my tech specs (hopefully the important ones)

Toshiba Tecra A2
Intel Pentium Processor (1.5Ghz)
512 MB DDR RAM
60 GB space

Intel Integrated Graphics Card 82852/855GM

Kanotix 2005-04
Upgraded to latest KDE (KDE 3.5 Sid)

The Opengl issue is driving me crazy, especially the fact that it's holding me back from playing Warcraft 3 TFT (because it's just soooo slow)

Thanks...

Hi,

You need to enable the opengl support.

First you need to install the i810 driver for your graphics.

You can add the lines manually by opening your XF86Config-4 or xorg.conf file (its located in /etc/X11 or /etc/xfree86 dir) and add/modify so it look like this:
Code:
EndSection

Section "Device"
	Identifier	"Generic Video Card"
	Driver "i810"
	BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
Hope this helps you out

Sincerely, Jorgen

I think changing the Identifier killed my xorg environment, and changing the BusID didn't do too much.

I just freshly installed a new copy of my distro (Kanotix).

The Opengl screensavers work nicely, but it's cut off by 2/3 of the screen (that 2/3 being the part that is black.

Here is the automatically generated xorg.conf the installation made. I am going to do a apt-get dist-upgrade and see if anything changes (that's when it was full screen, but really, really slow...).

I'll come back with a new post of the KDE 3.5 Sid observations...thanks.
