I tried to run a program in graphical mode (Uplink) but all it does is simply give me a new promt after displaying the name of he program. I looked at the log file and here's what I saw:

GLUT: Fatal Error in uplink: OpenGL GLX extension not supported by display: :0.0

Any ideas on what I could do?

I'm running Mandrake 8.1

go into your /etc/XF86Config file - there's a section called modules -

Section "Modules"
Load "glx"

you need to have the glx extension specified, or glut won't be able to connect.

to dredge up an old topic...

Well, I have the same error with uplink, but I already edited the XF86Config file to load GLX, and my XF86Config log claims that it successfully loads and initializes GLX.

Any more ideas to try?

Running redhat 9, with the latest nvidia driver for geforce 2 mx.
