Openbox help

i extracted the tar to /home/jeff/openbox-3.1

i compiled it with

make install
make clean

when i do

openbox --replace

i get a error that it cannot load the files and it takes away my toolbar so i have to ctl+alt+f2 and reinit.

didn't it show some errors with "make install"? most packages must be installed from root account...

i installed it as root.

i did

cd /home/jeff/openbox-3.1
make install
make clean

i got no errors

when i try to run openbox with

openbox --replace

it gives me errors and makes gnome go crazy and i lose toolbars forcing me to reboot
