Open Zip file

Running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Downloaded a 900mb Zip file which has around 64 documents. Where should I open this zip and should and how do I make a folder or file specific for these documents to contain them?

Thank you

Open it somewhere in your home directory tree.

If it was properly constructed, it should open into a folder with the documents inside it. However, you cannot always rely on a zipped file being properly constructed; some are just collections of loose files. So if I am not sure about an archive, I create a subfolder, put the archive into it and unzip it there.

Well that worked out perfectly thanks to you. Created my first folder in the Home Directory put the zip in that folder and extracted it and all is well.

Thank you!
