Open SUSE 12.1 File Server

I would like to see if Open SUSE 12.1 would be a good platform to create a home fileserver. I have been playing with this version on VM Player and it seems a bit different (GUI) that the Ubuntu that I use on my laptop. Any helpful links to set one up?

Thanks!

In my humble opinion OpenSuse would be a good choice. Might also peek at freenas.

all you need to do in OpenSuse you can do it through its YasT tool. So go to the SAMBA comfigurations in YasT as root or its NFS configuration and set up your shares there, make sure you allow access both ways so you can connect to its files remotelly.
Good luck to you.
