Open Suse 12.1???

Hi, I recently installed OpenSuse 12.1. My PCI Vertos/Vanta video card smelled like burning eletronics. I put the video on my internal video, on my Dell GX 270, and the video on the monitor started flashing from default video(like 800/600) to accelerated video(1440\900)and the video was shaking. I am a newbie to linux and I know my Dell computer is older. I now have a 9250 Radeon in AGP slot w/128 Mbts. I do not want to install 12.1 until I can figure out, computer or OS. I am presently running 11.4 OpenSuse with no video problems. Has anyone read or heard of this problem????

I don't know what you installed, but that isn't it. The most recent released version is 12.1, with 12.2 planned in July, 12.3 planned in March 2013, from which point the numbers jump to 13.1, so 12.4 is not planned to exist, ever.

As to the more substantive part of the question (the burning electronics bit), I don't know what can be done to help. Maybe, if it is a version of Suse for which SAX (SAX2, SAX3) exists, running it could help, if resolutions are being wrongly identified, but even that sounds as if it may have some level of risk involved.
