Open Source Streaming Servers

Hi All,

Linux newbie feeling his way. Iím getting comfortable with the terminal and setting up projects and programs on my server along with familiarizing myself with CentOS and Ubuntu.

Time for my next big step. Iím looking to stream mpg4 videos (h.264) from the server and have clients log on and watch in real time (concurrently). Best analogy I can make would be a TV network over the internet.

Iíve looked at several open source platforms (VLC, et al) but wanted to reach out to see if anyone has had experiences (good or bad) with the various streaming servers. Any help or guidance much appreciated.

Pretty sure VLC can do that.

From VLC, Media > Stream.
