open programs no longer shown on taskbar

Hi All,

Minor problem on RH4. All of a sudden the open programs are no longer being shown on the task bar. It's not a disaster since I can use alt-tab to navigate between minimized windows, but it's just irritating to have to keep reaching unnecessarily for the keyboard.
I think the task bar is still there but just blank. Any ideas how I can get this showing the open programs again?

Thanks

KDE, Right?
R-click a blank bit of the panel
Add applet to panel
Taskbar
Add to panel
Done.

Hi tredegar,

Thanks for the reply. Actually no, i'm using Gnome. Sorry should have mentioned that.
I checked the right-click menu before but I couldn't see anything that could help.

You can then Right click > Add to panel > window list

I just booted Mint7 live CD to try this out.
It works, but you have to be careful where on the empty panel you click. R-clicking to the left end doesn't give the "Add to panel" menu option. R-clicking to the right hand end does.
So you'll have to experiment until you find the menu option.
Me? I'm back with KDE3.5 :)

thanks guys. looks slightly different from before, but hey, it does the trick!

I do not know about Mint. Have not used it. I do not even use RHEL4 now a days. But it seems odd that R-click on left end does not work. Weird enough.

Well on my Jaunty, there is no such issue. I get the option on the panel on the right and left side.
