Open LDAP Authentication problem

Dear All

while I am executintg the following command

ldapadd -x -D "cn=root,dc=example,dc=com" -W -f /etc/openldap/

after giving the password I am getting the meassage

ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)

but im sure i have given the right password as plane text

can anybody help me

What does your slapd.conf look like?
