Open GL, on my radeon running mandrake 8.1

mandrake installed perfectly on my system, all the hardware was detected fine and configured fine, but when i went to try some of the games/demos (mesa gear demo, flight gear, and some other shooter thingy) all that uses ogl, all it would do is open the window then freeze my system. i'm using xfree 4.1.0 so i don't think its a driver problem. But configuration-wise, i haven't a clue what to do or where even to look.

Thanks in advance

the wymsical wyvern

p.s: is there a better way to escape from a program or something other then pressing the rerset button and then needing to reinstall linux cuz u corrupted the harddisk? :P ( i did this 3 times and i'm tired of it)

Click on the XKill icon(red target)and when it changes your cursor, click the title bar or the close button up in the r-hand corner.
Or,if you know the programs process id,you can use a terminal and type(all CLI experts correct me if I'm wrong):
kill id#
There are some options with this command but I'm typing this from(failing)memory.HTH
