only 2 directories are formed inside lib/mod even after config 3 kernels

i have a base kernel...i found the 2.4.18-14 dir inside /lib/modules.
after configuring a second kernel from this base kernel i found an additional dir named 2.4.18-14custom in the same locationa along wioth the previous one.
Now i configured another(3rd)kernel from the base kernel.
but there was no new dir formed in the location...only the 2 previously formed ones.

It was inside the location /lib/modules/2.4.18-14(base kernel)/kernel/fs/fat
that i found fat.o

but i cudnt use this fat.o on the configured kernel coz it gave the error msg
"cant find kernel version for which module was compiled"

please explain and help............

Since you are using the same kernel sources you will need to edit /usr/src/linux/Makefile and change the EXTRAVERSION="custom" to something else, otherwise make modules_install will continue putting modules in /lib/modules/2.4.18-14custom.
