Sign up and connect using ssh?
Why don't you use a live CD, or run linux in a virtual machine?
Kind regards

You can practice Ubuntu for an hour from this link https://try.cloud.ubuntu.com/
Maybe it is possible to repeat the process for additional hours
It creates a virtual machine running Ubuntu in AWS.

My guess is that any of these methods is going to be frustrating--either because of the speed, or maybe "artifacts".
Do you have a computer on which you can install Linux?

You don't mention the specs of your computer, but one option would be to install VirtualBox and install a Linux distro to a virtual machine and practice in the VM. There would be a bit of a learning curve to getting the hang of VirtualBox, but, once you do, it's a lot of fun.
If your computer is reasonably new, it should have enough resources to support that.
