one last problem and i'm trying again!

if i was to clear the MBR on a hardrive with information on it, not windows or linux but just files of mine would it do anything to the information, the hardrive is running as master (a thing i have to do to get my raid card to be a good child) but i have another drive that holds the os

a drive only needs a valid mbr if it is going to be actively booted to, if it is a secondary device you can clear it no problem, and it won't affect the data in any real partitions

i'm in luck

well this may sound bizzar but since i had my 80 gig as the master, and the my windows one slave, instead of putting it going on the drive that needs to be booted up its on the 80gig that doesent boot an os :D ... but now what is the best way to clear the MBR of this 80 gig? i hear that the fdisc /mbr thing doesent work if lilo is what was on it...?
