one desktop program opens another

Hello to all the Linux users,

i have been using Linux Mandrake 9.2 for about 8 day`s now, everything was working well until i downloaded the new Gaim instant messenger and installed it.

Gaim works good but when i try to look in my ( Trash ) it opens up Gaim instant messenger.

Can anyone help me to change the settings or what has to be changed with my Trash so it works properly again.

ok, heres the deal, i have never heard of this happening, but lets see this here

open a terminal and run (i assume you are running gnome)
cd ~/.gnome-desktop
rm Trash

then open a text editor and type (exactly, this is important)
[Desktop Entry]
this should return your trash icon to its normal operation
