? on how to use suse live

Question? I'm new to the linux game and i was also wondering which version to use. I checked the HCL and i'm good, so i'm downloading the eval of suse 10 live (the cd version). I just need some basic info like can i run the os from the disks on a xp machine with ntfs? And, how do i go about doing that, and do i need something like gnome with the version i mentioned. Also i'm downloading 5 disc isos and they're 600mb to 1gig that's alot of data why so much? I'm pretty computer savy mainly with hardware and networking, so sorry for my basic questions. Hope someone can throw a little info my way.

You just insert the CD or DVD in your optical drive and reboot, and let it boot from the optical drive. Easy as that! It does not run from inside Windows, it is a whole other operating system in and of itself.

Also: if you are downloading the five .iso files you are not downloading the LiveCD - you are downloading the install discs.

Note the Live version of SuSE is a 1.1GB DVD ISO image.

All the software which you would normally download (when using windows) are installable from those disks, tuned to the suse system. So that amounts to some data.

I went for the one eval DVD instead of the 5 cd's since i like to just pop one disk in.

Thanks for the reply. I'll download the dvd and use that. I thought it sounded fishy to run a os off of 5 discs. But, now that i have those 5 i can install the os on a seperate HDD if i want rite?

if you have the five cd's complete you might as well use them
And you can always install on different HDD's, so yes!
