ICHG 845G/GL Chipset AC'97 The hardware panel in Mandrake 10 uses the following: Vendor: Intel Corporation Alternative drivers: ali5455:i810_audio:nvaudio Bus: PCI Bus identification: 8086:24c5:1043:1803 Location on the bus: 0:1f:5 Description: ICH4 845G/GL Chipset AC'97 Audio Controller Module: snd-intel8x0 Media class: MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO You might have some luck loading the kernel using the module snd-intel8x0. I had considerable difficulty with older versions of Mandrake (9.1 I finally got to work, 9.2 and 10.0 work straight out of the box). Mind you, I am very much a learner rather than an expert!. Jim |

Had this problem and spent hours looking for the answer, I found it just playing around. Open KMix and go to the switches tab, look at the external amplifier and click on the LED to turn it off. Sound started when I clicked it.
