On a Linux file growth


On a Linux machine, how to find out which file grew in size in the last 24 hours

Hi and welcome to LQ,

Recommend you explore the man page information for the ls command. That gives you guidance about time options.

Second to that, the find command also contains time options.

I would use https://aide.github.io/ for this. Set it up to collect info about file sizes and run it once per day via cronjob. Then just process the logs somehow, to gather info about files that changed their size.
