Question Omitted Password

Hello,I am definitely a newbie!I haven't even began to crawl and I am already stumbling!I was given a computer for christmas with ubuntu on it and I had the privilege or dread to be the first to set up the user account,me having had problems not being able to log into my other operating system because of a malfunctioning keyboard, decided to omit a password on setup.I entered a username and everything smart uh?So,what do I have to do to get into my system? From what I've read so far I might just have to re-install,because I have'nt read anything on these sites anywhere near my problem.HELP!!!!

Your question was moved out of the thread you have posted it, because it's a differnet subject.

How did you get the machine up in order to enter a username? i.e. When you first started the machine, what happened? And what steps did you take?

Do you have the install CD for the version of Ubuntu on the machine? If not, then the easiest route might be to just get a CD of the latest version and start over.
