ok red hat wont load progs
 

Ok someone else MUST have had this problem.. in redhat 7.3 KDE .. sometimes it just decides to NOT load a program. it will sit there and blink its icon cursor for a miniute or two then just dissapear. then the next day it works then the next day it doesnt. ANd i havent touched ANYTHING on the system to make it do that. Redhat network updater wont even load now. what is going on?! any help appreciated. :(

I had the same problem with knoppix....

Try running these programs that are giving you problems from a shell. You should be able to get a little more insight into why they are not running from the messages.

i ran 'up2date' from a shell because thats the program RH8 (i updated to rh8 from 7.3 since earlier when i posted that above) and it still wont work. But from the shell i receive this error:

"There was some sort of I/O error: unsupported XML-RPC protocol"

What is that? how do i fix it so i can patch to new kernel? thanks
