ok..don't get it

everythign has been going fairly smooth then tonight while I was using kopete msn died...it reconnects but doesnt' message people on my list...wtf....gaim says msn protocal isn't supported, what am I missing? Help...

well its the gaim that came w/ suse 9.0 personal. I just ran online update and it ran a package update for gaim....*fingers crossed*

Edit Nope POS still doesn't work. Same stupid error...protocal not supported. How do I fix this? I looked for another version of gaim, couldn't find one my system agreed with. I used amsn w/ redhat a long time ago but I can't seem to figure that out either.

Can't you install from the Platform-independent source RPMs?
Still, it's odd. I remember that problem, but that is quite a few versions back. You are not just having trouble because MSN is unstable these days?

I'm not able to connect to MSN throught gaim right now myself. Says "error reading from Notification server". Is anyone else able to connect?

I had the same issue last night.

I'm also disappointed with the 5 post min of this forum. I was typing away my problem, nice and detailed regarding VNC and tried to post - wham - "too bad you can't post cause you are a newbie". Yikes. Hit the back button and all info was lost.

I think it is to discourage commercial spammers. They take up a lot of space at other sites.

That's exactly what it's for. As for MSN, it's been having issues for awhile. Verify here.

Yup - figured that- I was just all disgruntled at the time of that posting. I understand completely. I've been using this site almost exclusively to build up two SUSE 9.1 Pros (1 home, 1 work) for eventual conversion of me from a Windows guy to Linux - just plain ole tired of Windows issues. Pretty much anything I searched for - I ended up here to get the answer - many many thanks.

does anyone else have the problem when they try to run amsn in suse 9.2 and it says it doesn't have the "wish" command , or some such tale relating loosely to that? or is it just something i've done incredibly wrong?

I've been using Kopete without issue on 9.2.

I can't seem to get amsn working.

From /opt/amsn/FAQ

If wish command doesn't exist, then you don't have tcl/tk correctly installed.
If "wish amsn" works, but "./amsn" doesn't, edit 'amsn' file and set the
correct path to 'wish' in the first line. By default it's set to:
/usr/bin/wish

Not sure if that helps at all.
